Mr. President

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/41901.html

Obama is fighting the control of Congress. He disagrees with how Congress is being ran and he feels that there should be some change. Obama feels that Congress is the reason for the fall of the economy and if Congress made better decisions they would be more successful. He disagrees with their policies and they react to some causes. He wants to help the people of America and the economy.

I think that Obama should take charge because if he doesn't the economy will continue to fall and we will be in a bigger hole than we are now. This could help change a lot for the citizens on our country and the country as a whole. He should continue to control Congress because if he doesn't they will get out of control.

Here Take This!!

This is a cartoon of Congress taking and giving Major corparation 800 billion dollars. This is a good cartoon to show how Congress have the right to access Americas money. They can give money to who ever they want if they want to. Which is not a good thing because how do we know they are always making the right decisions, we don't!!!

This demonstrates Artical I, Section 8. "To borrow money on the credit of the United States" Congress is borrowing money from our country and they are giving it away to corporations, this could help the economy in some weird way.

Gays In War???

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/42109.html

This article is about Senator Reid and how he wants to debate the right for gays to fight in the war. I don't know if it is a good idea or a bad idea, because he has its pros and cons. Gays can distract other sodldiers because they aren't comfortable around them. This could could kill many soldiers, but I think that gays should be treated just as fairly as straights. everyone should be equal and if they aren't allowed to fight in the war there is a big problem.

This demonstrates Article I, Section 8, this is the powers of congress. "To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces", this article can be passed because the Legislative Brach has the right to make rules for land and naval forces.

Hold Up Trap...No Whistleblowing!!!

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/41178.html

This document is about how Congress delayed a bill for whistle blowing. This bill states that when you are accused of corruption you can not not retaliate. This bill was delayed because Congress is having big problems with corruption already. Many people believe that it should be passed though because it really protects the Legislative Branch from being insulted and bring down. This could help make congress focus on what is important.

In Article I, Section 7 the Legislative branch has the: Revenue Bills, Legislative Process, an Presidential Veto. " All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.
Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill."

I think this should be passed, this bill could help congress focus more on what is important than about what people think of them. This could get things done and if that happens we could solve a couple of problems that we are having in our country, which would make the people of America very happy. even if that isn't the outcome what bad could happen if we did pass this bill.

The State Makes My Laws!!!

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."

This is a cartoon that shows a teenager who is about to get her license, this is demonstrating the tenth amendment because the Federal Government doesn't give a specific age that people have to wait until they get their license. In this case the state gave an age and that is showed in this cartoon. This is power is given to the state because the the Constitution does not give any age limit to getting a license in the U.S.

I think this cartoon is a a good demonstration of the tenth amendment because it explains why it connects to the tenth amendment. It also shows a right that every state has the power to control, the age limit to get a license, some states are different than others and that is because every state gives its own rights.

I Plead The Fifth

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
This is a political cartoon that shows a judge telling the dog, "to bark once for yes twice for no and five times if you wish to take the 5th." this shows how everyone is given the right to plead the fifth. This means you do not have to answer or comment on anything. That is why the dog in the cartoon is given the option to plead the fifth.
This cartoon connects to the constitution because it demonstrates the fifth amendment. This is the right to a grand jury, double jeopardy, self-incrimination, and due process. This cartoon gives the dog the option to plead the fifth which gives him the right to remain silent.
I think that this cartoon is very humorous and it gives a good example of the fifth amendment. It shows how the dog is given the option to plead the fifth, which means that he isn't forced but he does it because he wants to.

We Have A Warrent

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This article is about a man who wrote an article about how a man found the new IPhone 4 and he showed off all the new features. A representative from Apple asked for the phone after seeing the post , written by Chen. He obeyed Apple's request and sent back this phone. The article states " The search warrant alleges the property seized may have been used as the means of committing a felony", this led to the police breaking in and searching Chen's house. This also caused a problem because the California and U.S. law protects journalist property from being searched.
This connects to the Constitution because of the Fourth Amendment which states the police does not have the right to search someones property without a warrant. This story demonstrates this amendment because the police searched Chen's house with this warrant. Even though the law protects journalists property from being searched it still shows how warrants work in the United States.
I don't know what to think of this article because it doesn't seem like Chen did anything wrong at all. I believe that it was the representatives fought for leaving the IPhone, they should have never searched his house in the first place. I think they had something against him in the first place. They had no reason to believe he was doing anything in the wrong, other than the IPhone incident in which he returned the phone with no troubles at all. This was not over a stupid phone it had some other purpose to it that we will never know.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

This article states that Obama believes that the constitution protects gun owners from losing their rights to carry a gun, but he was on a board of a "Chicago-based foundation" which gave out about 2.7 million dollars to groups that were against guns. He stressed that taking away the citizens right to bare arms is unconstitutional and he can not dot that. His actions contradict each other because he was so against gon control at first but now he is all with it.

This connects to the constitution because the second amemendment states we have the right to bare arms, and Obama are trying to protect those rights. This gives americans the right to carry weapons, most commonly referred to as guns.

I think that instead of forcing people to give up their weapon we can have them volunteer to. This will help decrease violence, which has killed many people in our country recently. This can give us a better country because we will have a chance to have peace. That is only if the people of America cooperate, we will need them to turn in weapons for money that the government willl give to anyone who turns in a gun.

N- Word Crisis

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/17/AR2010081706418.html

This article is about about a lady named Laura Schlessinger, also known as Dr Laura. She feels she has lost her rights to the First Amendment because said the N-word eleven times in five minutes. She feels that everyone should be able to use this word because the First Amendment does protect them. This controversy started after Dr. Laura described a caller as hyper sensitive, she later apologized by saying she didn't mean to hurt anybody she was just proving a point. She decided to give up her tCheck Spellingalk show at the end of the year, when her contract expires. She says she going to redeem her First Amendment through her website, books, podcast, and a YouTube channel.

The constitution does protect if she says the N-word because we have the freedom of speech. She has done nothing wrong because the constitution gives her the rights to say that. Its also fair she can say it because other people say it because they African American. What gives them the right to say this word but others can't? If they can say it without getting in trouble everyone should be able to say it. According to the First Amendment that is true.

I agree with Dr. Laura because why can I use this ignorant word and be a regular kid but if she uses it everyone flips out and calls her a racist. I don t think anyone should use the word truthfully, because all it does is bring problems where ever it is. I think Dr. Laura was right for using the word on her show, but i don't think she had to say it eleven times to get her point through. I was once told that our we are all people before we are black or white. We as a people are dumb we separate over skin color. Other than skin color whats the difference between us? We might have different ways of acting and living but we are all the same thing when it's over, and that is a person.

No More War!

http://rawstory.com/2010/03/5-antiwar-protesters-arrested-rally-white-house/

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Outside of the White House thousands of people gathered to protest the war in Iraq. They were arguing that we as a country need more money for jobs and school instead of this pointless war. People were burning flags and shouting "this is not my country", because of the disappointment they have.

The first amendment states that we have freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. This relates to the first amendment because they showed their right to peaceably assemble by protesting. They also expressed their feelings in words. This was a peaceful protest, there was no violence expressed during the event.

I agree with the protesters a hundred percent. This war is ridiculous and it should be ended, Bush should have never agreed to this war because it is wasting all of our money. We are in a recession and we cant afford to be wasting money on this pointless war, we need more jobs and schools. This war should end NOW!
